exhibition design, set design
Within the LFF EXPANDED strand, the BFI London Film Festival is showing works in the category “XR and Immersive art”.
In 2022, the presentation of the selected XR works will once again be realised as a purely physical exhibition in the tunnel vaults of 26 Leake Street below Waterloo Station in London. The spatial design of the approx. 800 square metre venue included not only the cohesive staging of the 17 different works, but also the planning of a reception and lounge area.
As the basic architecture of the venue consists of large, open spaces with only a few spatial divisions, it requires a spatially organising exhibition architecture. This year, in contrast to the 2021 design, this consists of white wall elements overlaid with hanging large-format textile prints. Images from the respective works are printed on the textiles, translating the different moods of the works into the space in a collaged way and thus utilising and emphasising the height of the special architecture.
