exhibition design, set design
The BFI London Film Festival is showing works in the ‘XR and Immersive art’ category under the title LFF EXPANDED.
In 2024, the selected XR works are being presented in the BFI Undercroft and the BFI iMax. The spatial design was planned for the ground floor and first floor of last year's venue in Bargehouse on approx. 220 square metres. In addition to the staging of four different works, the planning also included the design of a reception area and a newly developed games lounge. Due to short-term damage to the roof, the exhibition had to move to new spaces at the British Film Institute and has been adapted accordingly.
As most of the works were to be shown in separate rooms, an individual staging was planned to match the artistic work, which takes up the atmosphere, style or certain elements from the respective digital work and translates them into a physical setting. A colourful block constellation of gaming tables based on the computer game Tetris was designed for the Games Lounge. The design allows for future reuse and enabled a short-term adaptation in the foyer of the BFI iMax.
