During further education and networking programme SUSTAINABLE DESIGN LAB organised by the Hamburger Kreativ Gesellschaft, 15 designers from Hamburg, Finland and Latvia will exchange ideas on the topic of sustainable urban development. The two concept ideas SAVE THE RAIN - mobile garden unit and FLEXIGARDEN for the temporary use of car parks are being developed as part of the GREENTEAM. The concepts offer solutions targeting between ephemeral one-day-events like Parking Days and long term projects planned by landscape architects.
In 2015, the United Nations committed to 17 global goals for a better future. One of them is goal number 11 and its message is clear: to make cities and settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable. With the Sustainable Design Lab, the Creative Ports initiative presents a programme that gives creative people in the Baltic Sea region the opportunity to get a little closer to this goal. It has set itself the task of networking the cultural and creative industries in the Baltic Sea region internationally. As a cooperation partner of Creative Ports, the Hamburg Kreativ Gesellschaft is organising the programme together with the Danish Cultural Institute in Riga and the South-Eastern Finland University of Applied Sciences (xamk).
