urban space
For the international architecture & design festival Concéntrico in Logroño, Spain, the design LA BRISA was created in collaboration with flex.
The ephemeral architectural intervention focuses on the theme of the view. The installation occupies the car parks next to the Paseo del Espolón and references the large windows of the neighbouring buildings, whose curtains blow in the wind on hot days.
LA BRISA consists of two large frames and several white curtains and provokes a moment of irritation: As a passer-by, am I in an outdoor space? Or, when I look out through the window frame of the installation, do I have the feeling that I am in an interior space? This feeling of constant interaction between outside and inside is reinforced by every movement within the intervention.
With the windows as a framing element, the gaze of the passer-by is focussed and the surroundings with their historic buildings and the Paseo del Espolón are consciously perceived. The interaction of drawing the curtains allows everyone to change the installation and perspectives. The non-parking space is transformed into an intimate place in the middle of the city that people can shape.
»The window is something that synthesises the behaviour of people and the behaviour of nature.« – Yoshiharu Tsukamoto, Atelier Bow-Wow
