digital, exhibition design
As part of the project ‘We Dig It! - Innovative teaching, learning, concert and exhibition spaces for art and music’, the virtual platform HfK - Virtual Spaces was developed at the University of the Arts Bremen as an experimental space and for testing digital and virtual exhibition and concert formats for both teachers and students.
The platform is based on (Mozilla) Hubs. The virtual spaces are largely created with the opensource software Blender and extended by the possibilities of the Hubs add-on. BlenderDiplom developed additional interaction options using the Behaviour Graph, which can be particularly exciting for artistic work.
A total of 15 presentation rooms were built and/or managed, such as the virtual exhibition space for electro-acoustic composition and sound art. A new experimental concept for the presentation of audio files in virtual spaces was developed as an alternative to traditional media libraries. Student sound works and 360° performance videos were presented here.
In addition, the university-wide competition ‘Performing in HfK — Virtual Spaces’ was announced with keynote speeches by CyberRäuber, Lundahl & Seitl, Digitaltheater Augsburg and Ulrich Schrauth. The winning project, MYTHS by Prof. Fabian Hinsche, was realised using motion capture recordings of guitar students in a 30-minute virtual experience and presented as a hybrid concert.
The funding from the Foundation for Innovation in Higher Education (Stiftung Innovation in der Hochschullehre) ended in December 2025.
